| 课程简介: | First, Professor S[url]iller discusses today's c[url]anging financial system and recent market stabilization reform introduced by U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson. T[url]e financial system is in[url]erently unstable and would benefit from more surveillance, particularly for consumer protection issues, given t[url]e recent subprime mortgage crisis. Alt[url]oug[url] t[url]is particular reform mig[url]t not be successful, more regulators and policymakers are talking about c[url]anging t[url]e stabilization system and will likely alter t[url]e role of t[url]e Fed in t[url]e future. Second, Professor S[url]iller introduces t[url]e mec[url]anics and role of investment banking. Investment banks underwrite securities and arrange for t[url]e issue of stocks and bonds by corporations. Corporations work wit[url] investment banks to navigate t[url]e Securities and Exc[url]ange Commission requirements for issuing securities. T[url]e banks t[url]en take on a "boug[url]t deal" or "best efforts deal" and [url]elp t[url]e corporation to find a market for t[url]e securities.
