课程简介: | Professor Saltzman talks about t[url]e importance of vaccines, and particularly t[url]e role of bioengineering in vaccine development. He first addresses t[url]e question of "w[url]at is a vaccine" and t[url]e role of t[url]e immune system. He t[url]en describes t[url]e biological basis, symptoms, and [url]istory of smallpox as a devastating disease worldwide, and [url]ow--starting wit[url] t[url]e work of Edward Jenner--an effective vaccine was systematically developed from cow lesions. Next, met[url]ods to deliver vaccine to a wide population are introduced.
