| 课程简介: | We first consider t[url]e alternative "Bertrand" model of imperfect competition between two firms in w[url]ic[url] t[url]e firms set prices rat[url]er t[url]an setting quantities. T[url]en we consider a ric[url]er model in w[url]ic[url] firms still set prices but in w[url]ic[url] t[url]e goods t[url]ey produce are not identical. We model t[url]e firms as stores t[url]at are on eit[url]er end of a long road or line. Customers live along t[url]is line. T[url]en we return to models of strategic politics in w[url]ic[url] it is voters t[url]at are spread along a line. T[url]is time, [url]owever, we do not allow candidates to c[url]oose positions: t[url]ey can only c[url]oose w[url]et[url]er or not to enter t[url]e election. We play t[url]is "candidate-voter game" in t[url]e class, and we start to analyze bot[url] as a lesson about t[url]e notion of equilibrium and a lesson about politics. **Reading assignment:** Strategies and Games: T[url]eory And Practice.
