课程简介: Course Description: Structural Modeling covers the basic theory of the Finite Element Method (FEM], considering static and dynamic analyses, and practical application thereof applied to both aerospace and non-aerospace examples. The course is build up out of a series of lectures explaining the theoretical background behind FEM and how one can derive a FEM model based on the 6 steps of FEM outlined in the handout. Each lecture is followed by a computer practical applying the theory to a real world example illustrating the application in a FEM package. Students are required to validate their FEM solutions with simplified [analytical] models. Learning Objectives At the end of the course the student will be able to explain the basic theoretical background behind the Finite Element Method, be able to apply FEM to practical engineering problems and be aware of verification & validation of FEM results using a Finite Element package.
